The Special Issue entitled: “Recent Advances in Sustainable Waste Management and Resource Recovery” will focus on emerging technologies, innovative treatment systems, circular economy approaches, and sustainable strategies in waste management and resource recovery.

Selected papers presented at EWMS-2026 will be invited to submit full-length manuscripts for consideration in this Special Issue through the ESPR Online Submission System.

Main themes include (but not limited):
• Sustainable waste management and circular economy
• Waste valorization and resource recovery
• Waste-to-energy and advanced conversion technologies
• Recycling and sustainable materials management
• Smart and digital waste management systems
• Landfill and hazardous waste management
• Wastewater and sludge treatment technologies
• Climate change mitigation and low-carbon approaches
• Environmental remediation technologies
• Waste governance, policy, and lifecycle assessment

All submitted manuscripts will undergo the regular international peer-review process of the journal. Acceptance will be based on scientific quality, originality, and reviewer evaluations.

Submission Opening Date: 30 November 2026

Submission Deadline: 31 March 2027

Accepted papers will be published online following acceptance. The complete Special Issue will be published after completion of the editorial process.
